His Supreme Sacrifice
"Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren" (I John 3:16).
"This cup is the new testament in my blood, which is shed for you." Does this sound like a mere religious statement? This is what the redemption of humanity cost, the blood of the Redeemer. Was it given on a platter of gold? Not at all. Looking at the painful cost of the sacrifice, Jesus said, "Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done." Yet, he paid the price. He needed water in His agony on the cross and cried, "I thirst," but was instead given vinegar. What with the cruel beating, the crown of thorns, the heavy cross, and the mockery! He bore it all. He paid the supreme price and declared, "It is finished." Why then are you not saved? Why should such painful price be paid on your behalf and you are not saved? Why are you handling the issue of your salvation as if you were redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold? How will you escape if you neglect so great a salvation? Jesus did it all for you.
Challenge: Jesus paid it all.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for paying the debt I owe.
Quote: Jesus did it all for you
