INTIMACY IN MARRIAGE

GENESIS 2:18 - Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”

Marriage can be a very satisfying experience when the two partipants are on the same page. It can also be very difficult when you are having problems with your partner. It is the best plan of everyone to make sure that his or her marriage stand the test of time.

Therefore, for you to have a flourishing relationship time in and time out, it is important to be intimate with your spouse. This is essential to keep your marriage very strong.

God saw the loneliness of Adam in the Garden of Eden, then, He created a better half for him, to keep his company and make life more easy for him.

In order to make your marriage strong, you must be comfortable when you are around each other. Build up the communication gap, communication is vital in every relationship.

Today, we will be looking at four areas of intimacy in marriage

1. Spiritual Intimacy - This is the driving force of the other areas of intimacy in marriage. Spiritual Intimacy comes from you studying the Word of God together, praying for one another and worshipping God together. The word of God is the spiritual nourishment for our souls.

In Matthew 4:4 - But he answered, “It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’

When you are on the same spiritual diet with your spouse, then, you grow in similar ways, growing together and not separately. You need spiritual intimacy to fortify your home.

2. Physical Intimacy - Proverbs 5:18,19 - Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth, a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love.

This includes but not limited to sexual activity. There are also nonsexual physical intimacy such as holding hands, hugging, cuddling, etc. As a child of God, you are to be faithful with the wife or husband of your youth. Maintain proximity with your spouse.

3. Emotional Intimacy - Genesis 2:23 - This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.”

Yes, marriage suffers when emotional intimacy is lacking in any relationship. The state of being intimate emotionally to each other makes you see each other's soul, knowing your hopes, dreams and fears and bringing deeper understanding of each other.

When you start to experience lack of trust, poor communication, keeping secrets, and lots more, it shows your marriage lacks emotional intimacy. Your marriage becomes solid and connected when there is emotional intimacy. Drifting apart is always far from relationships that are emotional intimate.

4. Intellectual Intimacy - This is connecting to one another by discussing certain issues of life. The topics ranges from discussing a favourite movie, politics or other godly interesting topics that strengthens the relationship.

Beloved, be intimate with your spouse. Your marriage will flourish. I declare peace in your home. God bless you. Remember, making the marriage work is in the hands of both of you. God helping you, the wine of grace will not be exhausted in your marriage in Jesus name.
