The Death Of Jerusalem
Jesus departed from the temple
His disciples came to show
The adorning of the temple buildings
There were things they wanted to know.
Jesus said, See all this building
(And it must have caused a frown)
There shall not be one stone upon another,
That shall not be thrown down!
Then He sat upon the Mount of Olives.
His disciples privately said—
When are these things going to happen?
For it seemed a time to dread.
And what shall be the sign of thy coming
And the end of the age?
Jesus said, Let no man deceive you.
For He spoke as a prophet sage.
For many will come saying, I am Christ,
And many shall be deceived.
You will be able to discern the truth,
From the knowledge you have received.
You shall hear of wars and rumours of wars.
It may be hard to comprehend.
But don’t be troubled in heart,
For all these things must come to pass
But it still is not the end.
For nation shall rise against nation
And kingdom against kingdom, and so
Famines, pestilences and earthquakes shall abound
These are the beginning of woes.
Then they will deliver you up to be afflicted.
You’ll be hated and killed for my name’s sake
Then many shall be offended and betray one
Another, and shall cause one another to hate.
Many false prophets shall arise
And many will be deceived as of old.
Abundance of lawlessness shall be observed.
The love of many shall grow cold.
But the gospel of the kingdom shall be preached.
It must go into all the world for a token
For it shall be a witness to all nations.
Then the end shall come, just as I have spoken.
