HANDLING MISUNDERSTANDING IN MARRIAGE

TEXT: Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives. Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker - 1 Peter 3:1,7. ESV.

Misunderstandings in marriage are inevitable. Since you both emanate from different backgrounds, sometimes, different culture or language, therefore, misunderstandings are bound to happen. However, the rule of the game is forgive immediately and forge ahead.

When you believe you are abundantly clear as against the views of your spouse, if care is not taking, and if circumstance or situation surrounding the event is not well managed, it may end up in misunderstanding.

How we respond to misunderstanding in marriage matters. Our response may either bring us closer or push apart. Small misunderstanding not properly handled will definitely build up and become barriers overtime. Some spouses are expert barrier builders. Little or trivial issues magnified will surely build barriers in your relationship.

Our personal differences must be managed with maturity and care. Beloved, learn how to quickly solve problems when they arises. Do this respectfully and courteously in a mature way. Don't do it irrationally. Yes, we disagree to agree. But learn to disagree without getting angry.

Try and know this today:
The first to apologize is the bravest
The first to forgive is the strongest
The first to forget is the happiest

If at any point in your disagreement anger set it, the rule of the game is forgive easily without adding insult on injury.

Follow these tips in the event of sudden anger:

1. Don't respond when you are angry. Wait, cool your temper before responding to issues. Don't respond in anger.

2. Clearly identify the issue causing you to be angry. Discover if any wrong also came from you.

3. Take time to pray. Pray about the situation. Hand it over to God.

4. Approach your spouse in love

5. Be prepared to listen to him/her

6. Be ready to forgive and let the bliss of your marriage continue

7. Forget about the issue almost immediately. Let go of it completely and never make reference to it.

8. Let the flame of love continue to burn.

Beloved, your marriage will surely work out in Jesus name. As a wife, the queen of the kingdom, salted words must not be far from your lips. The Bible instructed the man, the king of the palace to live with his wife in an understanding way. The Lord will release oil of gladness into your home in Jesus name.
