Calvary Pointers Morning Showers 13 October 2023 Devotional by Reverend Ajisafe Opeyemi -Weapons Of Warfare
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) - 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 KJV
Spiritual warfare is won with spiritual weapons. On the ground, snakes are powerful and deadly, but in the air, they are weak, useless, and vulnerable. When an eagle takes the snake into the sky, the battle changes. Snakes has no defense, no balance, and no power to strike in the air. Our enemy is the snake; we are the eagle. We are to take our battles to the prayer zone, and our enemies become defeated.
As believers, the Lord has given us several weapons to contend and defeat our enemies. Quite unfortunate, the devil has prevailed over many, prevented them from using the weapons of warfare in their arsenal as believers. Prayer is a powerful weapon in the hands of believers.
Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak - Mark 14:38
Your enemy is spiritual but so are your weapons. Your enemy is deadly but so are your weapons. Your weapon is prayer. Peter, a disciple of Jesus, failed to use this weapon in his time of warfare. “And the Lord said, ‘Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren’” (Luke 22:31-32).
I find it interesting that this time Jesus refers to Peter by his old name Simon, the name Jesus had changed three years earlier.
And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone. The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me - John 1:42-43 KJV
During the last supper, Jesus warned Peter that Satan had asked for him, but Jesus prayed for Peter. Not long afterward, in the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus invites Peter to watch and pray with Him lest Peter falls into temptation. But Peter opted for prayerlessness, he was weak, tired and dozed off. He failed to use his spiritual weapon, and the enemy took the upper hand that night.
Prayerful Christians are powerful Christians. Prayerless Christians are powerless Christians. Prayer is a must because of the spiritual warfare that is constantly taking place in the unseen spiritual realm. If we fail to pray, we will stray back into our old patterns. Satan has the advantage over spiritually sleeping saints; he can sift them. Saints, it’s time to wake up from your spiritual slumber and rise up in your spiritual authority.
Do not treat prayer as your last resort but as the first response to every challenge that comes your way.
Take your battles into the spiritual realm by prayer.
Oh, how praying rests the weary
Prayer will change the night to day
So when life seems dark and dreary
Don't forget to pray!
Good Morning!
God bless you.
