Calvary Pointers Morning Showers 04 October 2023 Devotional by Reverend Ajisafe Opeyemi - Embrace Your Worth
Embrace Your Worth
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. - I Peter 2:9 NKJV
Don't listen to the enemy! You have a great worth because you are a child of God. You are not a worthless vessel but a worthy vessel. Remember, you are beautifully and wonderfully made. You were made special and for a special assignment.
Do you sometimes feel like you have lost yourself or seems to carry labels that don't quite fit you. Are you struggling to find the real "you" to embrace. Relax, you are not worthless but worthy.
What labels have you had in your life that makes you broken, unredeemable, useless and disappointed? The labels could have made you hopeless, rejected, forgotten or unloved. It could have been words that people spoke over you or scars that keeps reminding of your wounds.
Whatever it may be, don't allow it keep playing in your mind or define who you are. The only label you should adopt is, " I am a child of God". Thats your identity. It defines who you are. Not your failures, disappointment, limitations or setbacks. You are a special being and a worthy ambassador of Christ.
God has lavished His love on you from the moment you were created by Him, therefore, look past the negative labels and begin to see yourself in a new light.
The three don't in embracing your self worth:
1. Don’t Get Sidetracked.
The enemy would like nothing more than to deter you on this journey. Discouragement, hopelessness, and frustration may pop up on your journey, and if you’re not steadfast, he will use these bumps in the road to deter you from understanding who you really are.
When you experience these moments, don’t get sidetracked but instead hold firm to the course and be determined to see the journey through.
2. Don’t Compromise.
You’ll be tempted to take a shortcut or rush through any process that confronts the past or the pain.
It’s easier to compromise but it’s certainly not worth it; any good thing requires some courage to see it through. Stay true to the new creation that you are. Remember, the old has gone and the new has come! Don’t be a slave to sin, which compromise tends to divert to.
3. Don’t Let Someone Else Tell You Who You Are.
Jacob allowed Rebekah to speak into who he should have been even if it didn’t match.
Chances are there are people in your life who want to speak into who you should be or the direction you should take. It might even seem harmless or good-natured in the moment, but if it doesn’t fit you, then don’t do it.
Romans 6:6 is a powerful reminder that we are a new creation and to stay the path, not revisiting or returning to our former way of life. Stay the course and you’ll find your worth!
Knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.
Romans 6:6 NKJV
My prayer is that today you’ll begin a journey of finding your true worth in Christ. Truth is, although your past has shaped you, it shouldn’t define you. This definition of who you are belongs to the Creator of the Universe and is left to you to decide who to become.
Good Morning!
Do have a great worship service in His presence today.
Remember, you are worthy and who are who God says you are! Who are you?
