Calvary Pointers Morning Showers 10 January 2024 Devotional by Reverend Ajisafe Opeyemi - "The Lord Is My Shepherd"
"The Lord Is My Shepherd"
Psalms 23:1 - The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
David was overwhelmed by the circumstances of life. We sometimes run into situations that are frustrating and discouraging.
But we also experience the peace and protection of our dear heavenly father, whose goodness is not dependent on our situation.
The Psalms are full of God's unchanging love and faithfulness. Psalm 23 is a song in which David captures how he perceives his relationship with God.
It presents the perspective of a sheep speaking of the Good Shepherd who cares for it. The Shepherd is a representation of God.
As we study the psalm’s verses phrase by phrase, we find a greater meaning than what we can read at first glance.
David knows that, regardless of the circumstances, he will never lack under His care. And that's it, it's impossible to experience lack under the care of our Good Shepherd.
David went on to tell us what the Shepherd provides for him. “He makes me lie down in green pastures.” May God leads you to your still waters and makes you lie down in green pastures in year 2024 in Jesus name.
The phrase, "He makes me" does not refer to forcing or compelling. Rather, the Shepherd causes and creates the circumstances under which the sheep can rest; He leads the sheep to them and to desire to rest.
The Shepherd knows that He must find the right place so that the sheep will rest, be refreshed, and be restored.
The sheep do not follow nor trust a person they do not know. In the same sense, we need to know who our Shepherd is and let ourselves be led by Him.
For us to enjoy the security of the care of our Shepherd, we must know who our Shepherd is and spend time with Him. It is through our day-to-day relationship with our God that we can know what David expressed in the psalm
David had experienced God’s rest during the most hostile circumstances of his life. That is what he invites us to experience.
May you experience rest from all troubles of life, from pain, affliction, penury and any form of attack in Jesus name
Prayer:
1. My Good Shepherd, thank you for your great care for me
2. Let me experience your rest in all my circumstances in Jesus name
3. Let today marks the end of all my troubles.
God bless you. Good Morning
Compliments of the Season!
A better and radiating 2024 in Jesus name.
