Dealing With Anger 2
Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and he will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun. Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper— it only leads to harm.
Psalms 37:5-8 NLT
Psalms 37:5-8 NLT
As human beings, we can all relate to struggling with anger. It does not matter how patient, kind, and lovable we are. At a given moment, we all get angry. The Bible recognizes that this is a common reaction, yet it warns us about its consequences.
If anger is so common among us human beings, what is the problem? The Bible warns us, And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil. Ephesians 4:26-27 NLT
It is crystal clear that the reaction of anger is normal, but the problem is that it can become sinful. The results of anger can hurt us and our relationships. As believers, we are to analyze the “why” behind our anger. We must go to the root of it, expose it, and get rid of all the hindrances that stop us from walking in righteousness.
Anger can be as a result of a lingering emotions such as anxiety, envy and deep disappointment. It can make us angry to see wrongdoers succeed while we struggle to make ends meet as we try to do the right thing.
Perhaps your anger is borne out of continual disappointment at being overlooked for a job you feel you deserve. Whatever feeds your anger, if not well-managed is potent enough to eventually lead to a full-blown rage. As believers, we shouldn't harborsuch emotions.
Can you identify other feelings that accompany, and may have led you to become angry? What are they? Ask God to help you surrender these emotions to him and trust him fully.
Beloved, what's the reason for your anger? Is it about God's purposes or your preferences? Get to the root of that anger today and choose forgiveness each day.
Good Morning!
God bless you.
